Make Texas Safe for Children
- Stop Liberal Drug Decriminalization in Texas
- Get Tough on Sex Offenders
- Protect Texans, not Criminals
- Renew Ronald Reagan's War on Drugs.
- Increase the penalty for those who sell to children.
- Double the penalty for those who addict children and turn them into drug dealers.
- Secure our Borders! Drug peddlers from Mexico target Plano because of the high household incomes and teenagers who are innocent to the nightmares of drug use.
- Expose and prevent liberal legalization schemes. Legislators in Austin are minimizing the rights of children and crime victims and allying themselves with liberals such as the ACLU and George Soros to decriminalize drug crimes and retroactively review previous criminal cases.
- Support punishment over rehabilitation for all sexual offenders.
- Stop the current 'catch-and-release' policy for Texas sex offenders until Texas can prove it can perform its duty to monitor every predator in our community.
- Remove the statute of limitations on child sexual abuse.
- Support the newly enacted Jessica's Law.
- The first job of government is to protect its citizens, so why do legislators fight construction of more Texas prisons? Jon Cole believes as Ronald Reagan did years ago:
"None of us likes the idea that our prison population is increasing. But we can and we must take legitimate satisfaction in the fact that more wrongdoers are being brought to justice – not out of a sense of vindictiveness or revenge, but because incarcerating these criminals means that fewer and fewer innocent Americans are being victimized by criminal wrongdoing." – Ronald Reagan
- Continue the Reagan vision of criminal justice: keep criminals off
the street.
"Texas prisons are not overcrowded because our law enforcement and prosecutors are doing something wrong. Our prison population is increasing because they are doing something right… locking up those who would prey upon law-abiding Texans." - Jon Cole
- Cut the bloated welfare budget before cutting the criminal justice budget.
- Write legislation to increase penalties for repeat offenders, give police more rights in the line of duty, give prosecutors and judges more power in the courtroom, and eliminate parole for the worst offenders.
Rein in State Spending and Taxes
- Cut State Spending
- Lower Property Taxes
- Lower or Eliminate the Unconstitutional Business Tax
- Legislators need to prioritize the family over the state budget. The legislature's annual spending increased faster than the rate of inflation for almost two decades. Its time state government starts thinking like every Texas family when money is tight: by controlling expenditures, setting priorities, and cutting waste – not taxing Texans!
- Eliminate government handouts! Hardworking Texans should not be forced to pay for entitlements they do not use.
- Do not bust the spending cap. Lawmakers only hurt our state by busting constitutional spending restraints. It is time to stop runaway spending and cut the budget.
- Constitutionally dedicate future surplus revenue to property tax relief. Texans need property tax relief and they need it now.
- Lower the annual appraisal cap from 110% to 103%. Once implemented, taxing entities could no longer increase the value of a Texan's home simply to raise revenue for spending programs that they do not use. This will give voters the chance to approve or reject increases in their own property taxes.
- Avoid any increase in Texas business taxes.
- Reductions should not be made through tax credits, but tax decreases in general, benefiting all Texas businesses.
Put Texas Families First
- Institute a trigger bill to end abortion-on-demand if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade by re-instituting Texas' pre-1973 ban on abortion.
- Require an expecting mother seeking an abortion to perform an obstetric ultrasound, view the sonogram, and medically review the information with a doctor.
- Make adoption a viable option for hopeful parents.
- Author property tax incentives for marriage, adoption, and foster care.
- Stop subsidizing broken families with entitlements that impede marriage and work.
Stop Illegal Immigration Now
- End Sanctuary Cities. Cities like Dallas and Houston prohibit law officers from enforcing the law and arresting illegal aliens.
- Require identification at polling places, place citizenship status on driver's licenses, and allow state documents citing illegal citizenship to disqualify voters.
- Impose fees on remittances sent to Mexico and South America. By decreasing financial incentives to cross our borders, we can help stop the flow of immigrants crossing into our country.
