About Jon

  Jon with John P. Walters:
Director of White House ONDCP

Jon Cole grew up in Collin County and attended Plano and Richardson public schools. Jon is the Marketing Director for Total Physician Review, a healthcare consulting group based in Collin County. Prior to entering the private sector, Jon's public service focused on fighting the nation's 'War on Drugs' that began under President Reagan.

Working for our nation's "Drug Czar" at the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy's Major Cities Team, Jon focused on the drug epidemic in Dallas, Houston, and other major cities. In his work, Jon analyzed the day-to-day efforts of law enforcement, government and citizens to help build national and local coalitions to combat teenage drug abuse. While in Washington, Jon learned firsthand the devastating effect Texas' porous borders have on the flow of illicit drugs into Plano and Dallas.

Prior to his service in Washington, Jon served in the Governor's Criminal Justice Division analyzing Texas' drug court system and assisting the Texas Crime Stoppers program. He also assisted the Governor's Office of Homeland Security produce the state's emergency communication network. For his hard work, Jon was recognized by the Governor for his "dedication and service" to Texas.

Jon previously served as a legislative aide in the Texas House of Representatives. He worked on and analyzed complex issues on Texas transportation, limiting government abuse of eminent domain and eliminating waste in the state budget.

A lifelong Republican, Jon has volunteered and worked for multiple Republican campaigns for state and federal office. In 2006 he provided analysis and critical data assistance to Republican county chairmen and county-level candidates through a project created by a statewide Republican campaign. Republicans made key gains in these important offices, despite losses at the state legislative and federal levels.

A strong advocate of the second amendment, Jon is a member of the National Rifle Association and Texas State Rifle Association. He's also a member of the Dallas World Affairs Council, Texas Breakfast Club, and the Collin County Republican Men's Club. Jon is a founding member and the External Relations Chair of NexGen PAC, which raises thousands of dollars for Republican candidates in Texas' most competitive state races. Active in the Plano YMCA, Jon sits on the board of a financial literacy publisher based in Texas. For his involvement, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison nominated Jon to represent Texas at the United States Senate Young Professionals Leadership Summit in Washington, DC and the Texas Leadership Summit in Austin.

Jon Cole received his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin with a double major in history and government and graduated from the Institute of Comparative Political and Economic Systems at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
